ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES

A large body of my research has focused on privacy in the context of the Internet of Things ('IoT') and ubiquitous computing (where computers are 'everywhere' and not always accompanied by a display or keyboard), as well as social networks. My recent work is centered on privacy in the context of pervasive photography, where in this case digital cameras are 'everywhere' (e.g., as smartphones or wearable cameras), and photo sharing has become more socially networked. I am also examining how cameras as assistive devices can improve privacy for people with visual impairments. With smart voice assistants gaining popularity, I have begun to explore privacy in the context of audio and speech based interactions with these devices. The Azusa Scholars Program is designed to develop the recipients’ leadership skills and to promote community service involvement, particularly in the city of Azusa. Local Engagement provides opportunities for students to serve locally over fall and spring semesters. Service opportunities vary in length, location, intensity, and the type of service (e.g. tutoring, food ministry, community development, outreach) students get to participate in, with our partner communities and host organizations. Global Engagement teams provide opportunities for students to serve nationally and internationally over fall, spring, and summer breaks. Our office equips students to live as disciples of Jesus by providing them with relational discipleship opportunities through small groups (D-Groups) and one-on-one spiritual mentoring.
